The Oasis Garden is a place for the community to unwind, where you can relax in
pleasant and quiet surroundings, in the heart of Balham. Maybe sit and read a book,
eat a sandwich, have a sit down after a long day shopping, or just enjoy the flora;
all we ask is you respect this tranquil place so that others may also experience
it.
Where?
The Oasis Garden is situated to the south-side of the church.
Roots
The Oasis Garden grew from the vision of Rev'd Keith Bishop to transform the derelict
land adjacent to the church into a beautiful garden. He obtained funding from the
Western Riverside Enviromental Fund to create a place for the local community to
come together. Most of the work was undertaken by Rev'd Bishop with the assistance
of volunteers from the church and the community. We hope you will enjoy the garden,
and spare a moments thought for the hard work that turned a neglected space into
the beautiful surroundings you enjoy today.
Access
The garden is accessed throught a gate at the front of the church. The gate has
an electronic lock which requires a four digit number to be entered.
The number to be entered is 01mm (where mm is the current month).
i.e. This month's code is
0109.
Grand Opening
The Oasis Garden was opened by the Mayor of Wandworth on Saturday 13th October.
